343 formulates a new vision for radar

343 has created a more “adapted” radar, instead of removing the mechanic from play.

In a recent post on Halo Waypoint, 343 provided us with an update on what has been going on in the Halo universe. Within their post, the team addressed the confrontational mechanic in Halo 5, motion sensor, and what they plan on doing with it in the future.

Instead of completing excluding the mechanic from competitive play, 343 has instead formulated a more “adapted” radar that shows many similarities from what I recommended to 343. This new radar will only show a player if they shoot a non-silenced weapon or use any type of spartan ability, such as Spring, Ground Pound, Spartan Charge, Stabilize or Clamber. This new sensor forces a different style of play into the game, where players are encouraged to play a more tactical game where their map awareness and ability to utilize silenced weapons when given the opportunity becomes significantly more rewarded prior to this change.

The new radar will first be released on a new playlist next Thursday called “Proving Grounds” as a public test. The playlist and feedback will be supervised by staff as they look to determine if the new mechanic helps or hurts competitive play. It is certainly great to see 343 taking our feedback into consideration, as this mechanic greatly impacts the overall quality of play for everyone.
