Roadhog hooks Genji right out from under Reinhardt’s shield in the OGN Overwatch APEX

Roadhog player Saebyeolbe of LW Blue out-hooked KongDoo Panthera's Evermore to secure their spot in the APEX playoffs.

KongDoo Panthera’s Koo “Evermore” Kyo Min is widely considered one of Overwatch’s best Roadhog players. But in the OGN Overwatch APEX quarterfinal decider’s match, another player—who’s actually known for his Tracer play—showed Evermore up: LW Blue’s Park “Saebyeolbe” Jong-ryeol.

It happens in an instant.

Jang “Luna” Gyeong-ho on Ana is met behind a building by KongDoo Panthera’s Reinhardt, D.Va, and Genji. And it’s not looking good, until Saebyeolbe sneaks up behind—as quiet as a Roadhog can be. Before retreating behind Roadhog’s hook, Luna lands a sleep dart on KongDoo Panthera’s Genji. Behind Reinhardt’s shield, however, Genji is safe—until Saebyeolbe makes himself known.

Finding a tiny opening under the Reinhardt shield, Saebyeolbe whips out his hook, waking Genji up and pulling him right to his death. It’s one of those precision hooks that an average player will never be able to land.

From there on, Saebyeolbe’s hooks are nothing but consistent—he takes out both of KongDoo Panthera’s healers repeatedly. And with that, KongDoo Panthera is unable to keep themselves alive in the Overwatch APEX. Though KongDoo Panthera bested LW Blue in their last match, the Route 66 tiebreaker pushes the team out of the Overwatch APEX. LW Blue will move on to play in the semi-finals.

The tournament continues with RunAway versus LW Blue on March 24. Meta Athena and Lunatic-Hai face off on March 28.
