How to level up fast in WoW Classic

Time is of the essence.

The leveling process in World of Warcraft Classic can be long and arduous.

In 2004, when the MMO was first released, leveling to 60 was a painstaking grind that took months of patience.

It was a free-for-all of epic proportions that stopped some players dead in their tracks and motivated others. But now, it’s a different story. More than 15 years have passed since the release of World of Warcraft and a great deal has changed.

For the enthusiastic players eager to reach the endgame and get into raiding, Classic is all about reaching the maximum level. And sometimes that means skipping cut scenes, scrolling past the story, and plowing full steam ahead.

Here are a few tips to help you get started on your leveling journey in World of Warcraft Classic.

Choose the right server

Believe it or not, the server you choose has serious implications on the leveling process. There are PvE, PvP, RP, and RPPVP servers, each catered to a different kind of player.

If you’re keen on fighting your foes and getting stuck into World PvP, a PvP or RPPVP server is a sensible option. These are typically the most popular realms, with streamers and players alike flocking to them on a regular basis. But with PvP servers comes ganking, and with ganking comes time-wasting.

Instead of worrying about the opposite faction, biting your nails and staying on high alert, play on a PvE or RP server. This will save you some extra time (and it all adds up).

Another bonus of avoiding PvP realms altogether is population. On lower-populated servers, you won’t have to fight for mobs. On popular servers, you’ll often find yourself waiting for respawns.

Here are a few good servers to choose from when considering fast leveling

Pick the best class

The key to leveling quickly is efficiency. The fastest players waste as little time as possible. They know the ins and outs of each and every zone and have a good grasp of their class and spells.

But some classes are simply better than others. Warriors and Rogues are great endgame classes, but when it comes to leveling, they’re lacking.

They have almost zero self-sustain, leading to endless downtime and eating after every pull. Instead, classes like Warlocks, Hunters, and Mages have an easier time leveling.

Warlocks and Hunters have their pets and crowd-control, while Mages have their slows, snares, stuns, and rampant AoE damage.

Here are the best to worst classes for leveling in World of Warcraft Classic.

Make the most of addons

Leveling fast without assistance is almost impossible if you’re new to World of Warcraft. But there are plenty of addons to hold your hand and guide you through the game.

A few good leveling addons include Guidelime, Questie, and Leatrix Maps.

Guidelime is a step-by-step guide from level one to 60. The addon gives you an arrow to follow as you progress through each level and zone. If you want to pay as little attention as possible and watch a movie in the background, Guidelime is ideal.

Questie is another great addon for leveling. It adds quest icons to your map and shows you where to pick up quests. It’s not a guide, but it’s particularly useful throughout the leveling process.

Leatrix Maps is another handy addon. It exposes the map, showing you exactly where to go.

This set of addons will cut down the leveling process and vastly decrease playtime. But despite the paths you take and the addons you use, leveling to 60 will still take a considerable amount of time.
