Best teams for Psychic Cup Great League in Pokémon Go

The next round of Battle League competitions has arrived in Pokémon Go, and this time around, we’ll be playing in the Psychic Cup. It’s a great time to bring out some of your best unique Pokémon who can unleash their Psychic powers.

Like the previous Battle League Cup competitions, only a handful of Pokémon types are available to you. You’ll need to create a distinct team given these restrictions, and there’s definitely some stronger choices out there for your Pokémon. Here’s what you need to know about some of the best teams you can use for the Psychic Cup in Pokémon Go.

Best Pokémon teams for the Psychic Cup in Pokémon Go

For the Psychic Cup battles in Pokémon Go, all players are restricted to using only Psychic-type Pokémon. So long as a Pokémon is a Psychic-type, even as a secondary, they can compete. In addition, these Pokémon must also be at or below 1,500 CP if you want to use them in these battles. No team can use Mew, either.

Typically, these Pokémon Go competitions allow one or two other Pokémon types to compete, but it’s only Psychic types. By narrowing down the Pokémon everyone can use, we can expect to see a lot of nearly identical Pokémon. It’ll come down to how you use your teams and conserve your shields to prove who the better Pokémon trainer is.

Victini, Claydol, and Gardevoir

For the first team, although the Mythical Mew is not allowed in this Pokémon Go competition, we can still use Victini, the Fire and Psychic-type. Victini will likely be featured on multiple teams, so expect to see it all over. You can use the Psychic and Ground-type Claydol to help support it and hold Gardevoir in reserve as your final Pokémon. I recommend switching between Victini and Claydol sooner rather than later, reserving more shields for Victini if you have the opportunity.

• Victini: Quick Attack (fast move), V-Create, and Overheat
• Claydol: Mud Slap (fast move), Scorching Sands, and Shadow Ball
• Gardevoir: Charm (fast move), Shadow Ball, and Triple Axel

Malamar, Bronzong, and Beheeyem

The next features the ever-popular Malamar, a powerful Dark and Psychic-type Pokémon. Malamar’s popularity has increased with the Max Out season in Pokémon Go, and it’ll continue to flourish in the Psychic Cup. You can add Bronzong and Beheeyem to its team, and you should see some exciting results. With Malamar being a more robust Pokémon, it might be better to hold it in reserve rather than use it as your first choice.

• Malamar: Psywave (fast move), Foul Play, and Hyper Beam
• Bronzong: Feint Attack (fast move), Payback, and Heavy Slam
• Beheeyem: Astonish (fast move), Dark Pulse, and Rock Slide

Galarian Rapidash, Bruxish, and Galarian Slowbro

For those who participated in the Ponyta Community Day, now is the time to cash in with your Galarian Rapidash. Galarian Rapidash will be one of the more sought after choices for the Psychic Cup in Pokémon Go, which is where it can shine. If you’ve also been building up your Galarian choices, Galarian Slowbro would be a fantastic addition to this team alongside Bruxish.

• Galarian Rapidash: Fairy Wind (fast move), Megahorn, and Body Slam
• Bruxish: Bite (fast move), Psychic Fangs, and Aqua Tail
• Galarian Slowbro: Poison Jab (fast move), Brutal Swing, and Sludge Bomb

Hoopa, Alolan Raichu, and Cresselia

Another excellent Psychic-type choice in this competition is Hoopa, another Mythical Pokémon. Although not as strong as Victini or Mew, Hoopa is great for a Psychic-type-based team in Pokémon Go, especially if you use Alolan Raichu and Cresselia alongside it. Alolan Raichu will be your primary attacker and a solid option if you can use Wild Charge. You might want to reserve your shields for Hoopa or Cresselia, though.

• Alolan Raichu: Volt Switch (fast move), Wild Charge, and Trailblaze
• Cresselia: Psycho Cut (fast move), Grass Knot, and Moonblast

Elgyem, Lunatone, and Galarian Slowking

The final team I want to highlight for Pokémon Go‘s Psychic Cup features Elgyem. Although it might not be in its final form, Elgyem is a solid choice given its robust moveset. You can back it up using Lunatone, one of the more common Psychic-type Pokémon, and then with another favorite from the Galar region, Galarian Slowking. It would be best to reserve Galarian Slowking as your final Pokémon to ensure you can withstand your opponent’s oncoming heavy attacks.
