Astro Bot: How to freeze a hammer-wielding deity with the axe

How to be a Thor in Kratos' side.

Astro Bot brings together a hammer-wielding deity and an axe, and if you’re not a fan of God of War, the Thaw, God of Thunder Trophy! trophy might seem a bit peculiar to you.

God of War is a franchise synonymous with PlayStation, and it’s been attributed to the blue brand for 20 years. God of War has virtually seen and done it all from Greek mythology to the recent transition into Norse tales—and Astro Bot recognizes this.

Astro Bot takes pride in honoring acclaimed PlayStation franchises, and the Thaw, God of Thunder! trophy highlights this, but there are a few hoops for you to jump through before you get there.

To obtain the Thaw, God of Thunder trophy, you need to reach the Bot of War level in Astro Bot, rescue the Thor bot, return to the Crash Site, and get Kratos to throw his axe and freeze Thor in the process.

If all this sounds strange to you because you either haven’t reached the level or can’t find Thor, I’ll explain everything you need to know.

How to find Kratos and Atreus

Thankfully, Kratos and Atreus don’t require much work to find, as they are an automatic addition to the Crash Site once you encounter them.

Here’s some quick pointers on when this happens:

  1. Journey through Astro Bot until you reach the Tentacle System.
  2. Defeat Wako Tako in the self-titled boss level.
  3. You encounter Kratos and Atreus in a cutscene at the end of the level.
  4. They’re both automatically rescued and added to your collection.

How to find Thor

Finding Thor is a bit more tricky, as he is hidden somewhere in the Bot of War level. It’s one of the game’s tougher levels for collectibles—with Odin’s raven locations proving to be very sneaky—but we’ve done the hard work for you:

  1. Once you have access to the Bot of War level, enter it.
  2. Reach the first bridge requiring the axe to create a thin wired bridge, right next to a checkpoint, and cross it.
  3. Run forward, but go left of the two gold enemies, and head on over to the ice pond.
  4. Break the ice structure in front of the pond, pull the wires, and blow into the controller for a few seconds to activate the horn—summoning Jörmungandr.
  5. Use the jump pad to climb onto Jörmungandr, and Thor is waiting for you on top of the large snake.

How to freeze Thor with the Leviathan axe in Astro Bot

You need to attack Kratos in the Crash Site and use Thor as cover so the Leviathan Axe strikes Thor and leaves you unharmed.

If you do this right, the axe hits Thor, instantly freezes him, and you are rewarded with the Thaw, God of Thunder! trophy for turning Thor into an ice block—helping you toward completing the trophy list.

Here’s how this should look if you need an example:
