The frog queen reigns supreme. Shanghai Dragons’ off-tank Kim “Geguri” Se-yeon has become the first Overwatch League player to make Time magazine’s Next Generation Leaders list. The honor includes a full feature detailing her journey in Overwatch esports.

Geguri began her esports career by playing in small tournaments in 2016, shortly after Overwatch’s beta testing phase began. It hasn’t always been an easy road, though. The Time article delves into a situation that arose after multiple male players accused her of cheating by hacking her aim. Although Geguri was cleared, and multiple players left the competitive scene after being proven wrong, it still had an effect on her.

Geguri is the only female player in the Overwatch League. She made league history after being signed by the Shanghai Dragons midway through the inaugural season. The Dragons have also rewritten their own history this season. They didn’t win a single match in the 2018 season, but after a team overhaul, they managed to make it to last week’s stage two playoffs.

Geguri is the first Overwatch League player to be profiled by Time magazine. She and the Shanghai Dragons will begin their stage three games on June 6 when they take on the Los Angeles Valiant at 11:15pm CT.
