Can you play as Alucard in Dead by Daylight?

Alucard is one of the main characters from the Castlevania series, and one of the most popular.

Dead by Daylight has a Castlevania crossover, with Dracula as a Killer and Trevor Belmont as a Survivor. Players can add these characters to their growing collection of horror icons to use in the deadly fog to fight, or fight for, the Entity. But is Alucard making an appearance?

Alucard is one of the main protagonists of Castlevania and arguably one of the more popular characters in the series. The son of Dracula, Alucard was featured in multiple games throughout the Castlevania series, though he’s most widely known as the playable character in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. With the Castlevania crossover available in Dead by Daylight, can you play as Alucard?

How to get Alucard in Dead by Daylight

It’s been confirmed with the official release of the Castlevania crossover in Dead by Daylight that Alucard is available. But there’s a small catch. He is not an independent character you can purchase, like Trevor Belmont. Instead, he works similarly to how Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield are in Dead by Daylight. You’ll want to pick up the Alucard skin for Trevor if you want to play as one of the most beloved Castlevania characters. He’ll cost 1,500 Auric Cells. He does not have a skin for Dracula, the main Killer for this crossover.

Leon Kennedy is the main Survivor you can play, but you can purchase a Chris Redfield skin to put on Leon, giving him the entire voice and appearance of a new character. This is how it works for Alucard, where you must purchase this skin and then play as Trevor to use it. There are no exclusive Alucard perks you can use in Dead by Daylight. If you want to play as Alucard, purchase his entire outfit from the Dead by Daylight store and put it on while in the Trevor Belmont customization menu. This does come with a completely different voice.

Developer Behaviour Interactive does this by bringing multiple characters from a franchise over into Dead by Daylight. Rather than making several unique characters, the devs add skins of characters from the same franchise and put them together. The primary character is the main focus, but these alternative skins are a good option to use during your match.

These skin swaps are much more common for Survivors than Killers as Survivors can mix and match all their perks, whereas each Killer has a unique power. Because a Survivor’s skills are entirely decided by the perks you have for them, it truly does not matter what they look like, and it comes down to personal preference. Using a particular Killer does matter, though, as they have a unique power mechanic they can use to hunt down Survivors.
