Will the Wunderwaffe be usable in Black Ops 6 Zombies?

"Good old fashioned lightning gun, sweet!"

For many longtime Call of Duty Zombies players, one of the main attractions is the feeling of wiping out an entire horde of undead with one shot from a Wonder Weapon. And one of the all-time classic Wonder Weapons, the Wunderwaffe, could return in Black Ops 6.

At time of writing, Activision and Treyarch have yet to confirm whether the Wunderwaffe—or Wunderwaffe DG-2 as it’s officially known—will be a usable gun in Black Ops 6 Zombies. But based on the trailer for the Liberty Falls map that was shared on Aug. 23, it definitely seems like a possibility.

The Wunderwaffe is featured prominently in the Liberty Falls cinematic, wielded by a young Edward Richtofen. It wouldn’t make a ton of sense for the weapon to be involved in the trailer for the map and not be usable on the map itself, but we’ve been surprised before, so we’ll have to wait for confirmation from the devs.

Activision has already confirmed one Wonder Weapon in Black Ops 6 Zombies, the Beamsmasher, which might be exclusive to Terminus, the other round-based map available at launch alongside Liberty Falls. Activision’s blog also showed promotional art featuring the Ray Gun on Terminus, seemingly confirming the legacy weapon’s inclusion in Black Ops 6 Zombies. But the blog did not mention the Wunderwaffe, so it’s possible that if it’s in the game, it might not be available on Terminus and could be exclusive to Liberty Falls at launch—if it’s even in Liberty Falls, that is.

The Wunderwaffe is a classic Wonder Weapon in CoD Zombies, making its debut on Shi No Numa in World at War. I still have fond memories of using the original version of the gun to electrify huge groups of zombies in the summer of 2009. It has since returned to various CoD titles and Zombies experiences over the years—and for the sake of newer players, I hope they get the chance to use this weapon in Black Ops 6.

If the Wunderwaffe is available in Black Ops 6 Zombies, it will likely be purchasable from the Mystery Box. It’s also possible that Liberty Falls or other maps could feature a quest to build a version of the Wunderwaffe for free, similar to the process of acquiring other Wonder Weapons in recent years.

This article will be updated as we learn more about the Wunderwaffe’s potential inclusion in Black Ops 6 Zombies.
