ENCE has pulled out of MDL, a league that guarantees a spot at ESL Pro League, after an internal discussion by the team according to the official statement.
Slaava “Twista” Räsänen, ENCE’s coach, said that they wouldn’t have the time necessary to play the remaining matches of the online league.
“Withdrawing from MDL is not something we wanted to do, we tried to figure out a way to play the remaining 15 matches,” Twista said. “Having only seven days for that it is simply impossible, we also don’t want to spend all our time for that and rather focus on our practice to improve for the many upcoming events within the next three months.”
By doing this, the Finns are giving up the chance to qualify for ESL Pro League season 10. The winner of MDL automatically advances to the premier league and the second and third placed teams have to fight for a spot against four of the worst placed teams in ESL Pro League at the relegation stage.
ENCE finished at the bottom of MDL as they played only three matches of the season and lost all of them.
The Finns have a busy schedule in the coming weeks. They’re going to play two tournaments this month starting with cs_summit 4 in nine days, followed by DreamHack Masters Dallas in May 28.
