Renegades has struck a deal with German organization BIG to use Owen “smooya” Butterfield at stage two of ESL Pro League season nine.
Smooya will continue to play for Renegades on a loan deal. He already replaced Sean “Gratisfaction” Kaiwai in the first stage of the tournament. Gratisfaction’s new visa hasn’t arrived since the beginning of ESL Pro League season nine in last April.
The loan extends to the next two tournaments for the Australians: cs_summit 4 and DreamHack Masters Dallas, both to be played in May.
Smooya has been on BIG’s bench since last February after they added the Turkish star Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş.
Renegades are set to play in Group A of stage two of ESL Pro League Season nine, alongside MIBR, compLexity, and Isurus. Their first match is today against compLexity at 7:20pm CT.
