Upgrades and Special Attacks are similar in several ways: They need to be equipped at a shrine, they’re found throughout the underworld, and they let you customize your playstyle to become stronger. But that’s where the similarities end. Special Attacks need to be activated, while Upgrades are passive effects that boast a variety of bonuses, like increases to your health or movement speed. Unlike Special Attacks, Upgrades cost Upgrade Points, which you can collect around the world, but you can have as many Upgrades as your total points will allow.

Here are all the Upgrades and Special Attacks in Crypt Custodian.

All Upgrades and their locations in Crypt Custodian

There are 32 Upgrades (not including Roy’s offerings) you can equip in Crypt Custodian, with bonuses ranging from damage boosts to an effect that causes enemies to explode upon death. Many of the following Upgrades can be purchased from Marla at The Sinner’s Inn, the first major location you discover after being banished to the underworld. Each time you purchase an Upgrade from Marla, a new one takes its place, so it’s worth purchasing the cheaper ones even if you don’t think you’ll get much use out of them.

Here are all the Upgrades in Crypt Custodian, their effects, how many Upgrade Points they cost, and where you can find them.

All Special Attacks and their locations in Crypt Custodian

Special Attacks are active effects that must first be charged by hitting enemies before you use them. You can only have one Special Attack equipped at a time, and like Upgrades, you can only equip them at shrines.

There are a total of eight Special Attacks in Crypt Custodian. Two of them can be purchased from Mira at the Sinner’s Inn—one being the Super Sweep, the first Special Attack you’ll get at the beginning of the game. You’ll have to find the other Special Attacks around the underworld, some of which will be locked behind puzzles.

Here are all eight Special Attacks in Crypt Custodian, their effects, and where you can find them.
