Blizzard turns blind eye to Diablo 4 glitch accidentally giving players free stat boosts

This was worth playing Season 4 for.

Diablo 4 players who played last season are rejoicing now Season Five’s here, with an odd seasonally-linked glitch allowing new characters to keep all the Tempering recipes you earned over the action RPG’s last major update.

This bug means players are starting Season Five a whole lot stronger—and the best part is Blizzard is actually letting it slide (at least for this season).

A list of available learned Temper recipes in Diablo 4 season five
Hello, my old friends. Screenshot by Dot Esports via Blizzard.

Originally, Tempers were introduced in Season Four as a way to enhance the crafting system and add Weapon, Offensive, Defensive, Utility, and Mobility stats to your gear. They sit at the heart of this new bug, with all the Tempers earned in Season Four strangely just sticking around after the Season Five update. Blizzard knows about it, Diablo‘s community director Adam Fletcher confirmed today, and they’re leaving it be.

If you’re like me and played Season Four, you’ll notice a boatload of Tempers in your Temper section that you earned from last season. I’ve even kept my Legendary ones. What this means is as soon as we complete the quest to learn Tempering at Level 15, we can then apply these Tempers to our gear and gain some pretty incredible stat buffs early on—particularly if you have any Legendary Tempers lying around.

While this is all well and good, most Diablo 4 Tempers are class-specific, so if you’re playing a different class than the last season, you may not be able to take full advantage of this glitch. I do have a couple of non-class-specific (general) Tempers. Thankfully I stuck to playing a Necromancer again, so I’m getting the most out of this bug.

For those who didn’t play Diablo 4 Season Four, you won’t be able to take advantage of this glitch. This is because you don’t have a Season Four character who would have earned Tempers. It’s not all doom and gloom though; you can still get Tempers this season by completing most in-game content like Helltides and Dungeons. You just won’t have access to any Legendary Tempers as early as everyone who played in Season Four.
