Dead by Daylight players want collabs with these horror franchises

Here's hoping DBD's developer chooses at least one of these.

Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive has always sought to partner itself with popular horror franchises, particularly those in the slasher sub-genre. With so many having featured in the game’s nearly decade-long lifespan, players are now discussing which popular horror IP they would love to see added next.

One such discussion is happening in a July 28 Reddit thread, where the original poster created a collage of potential collaborations between Dead by Daylight and popular horror (and pop culture) franchises. They listed numerous prominent examples, including Friday the 13th, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and IT, but also named some non-horror (at least in the traditional sense) options like Bioshock.

One collab those replying to the thread have been particularly interested in is The Thing, with one player saying R.J. MacReady (the protagonist of the series) should feature as a Survivor. Others suggested the Killer could potentially start as the Malamute dog and then be able to shapeshift into a Survivor once they land a hit. Something could then be “wrong” with the shapeshift to make it obvious this isn’t your normal Survivor. This would drastically change how Dead by Daylight is played, so it could perhaps be part of a separate time-limited event like the recently released 2v8 mode.

Another collab players generally agreed with was Outlast, which could see Miles from the original game feature as a Survivor. One player explained how Outlast isn’t that big of a franchise to warrant several characters (such as a Survivor-Killer combination), though it isn’t too off-base to imagine Behaviour dropping, for example, Miles and Chris Walker (one of the antagonists of the first game). There are lots of options in Outlast 2 and the Whistleblower DLC, too, that the developer could choose from.

Behaviour Interactive is likely to collaborate with at least one of the numerous named examples at some point—or at least try to. The studio has always strived to introduce popular horror figures from across all media, including games and movies. So far, we’ve seen behemoth franchises like Silent Hill, Stranger Things, and Alien, among others, so any other well-known horror series has good odds of being featured in DBD.
