Faker fans pay for Times Square billboard to celebrate the superstar’s birthday

The billboard appeared yesterday.

SK Telecom T1 superstar mid-laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok celebrated his birthday yesterday on May 7 while preparing for the upcoming group stage at the Mid-Season Invitational in Vietnam— unaware of a special birthday present made for him all the way away in New York’s Time Square.

A group of his fans purchased a Time Square LED screen ad to wish him a happy birthday in New York which showcased multiple pictures of the player from his career, alongside a special “SK T1 Faker 24th Birthday” banner.

This isn’t the first time that fans have gone out of their way to show signs of support towards their favorite players on their birthday. In 2017, an advert for a Seoul Dynasty player appeared in Seoul Subway Station, wishing him a happy birthday as well.

With his birthday behind him, Faker and SKT are preparing for their first match of the Mid-Season Invitational when they take on Europe’s G2 Esports this Friday.
