Once Human is going live on July 9 and, with hundreds of thousands of players in the Discord server alone eagerly awaiting release, the race to download the game will be fierce. You may be wondering whether you can jump ahead of the queue by preloading the game.

We’ve got the answer and all the details you need below.

No, you cannot preload Once Human ahead of the launch date. Instead, you have to wait until the game goes live to start your download—which, depending on your download speed, may mean a lengthy wait to install the game once servers go live.

As everyone will be downloading Once Human at the same time and trying to get into the game, server stability issues are likely, and it may take a while to load into the game. On top of this, there could also be disconnects and lag when in the game.

If you try to preload Once Human before the release time and it seems to be working, with a download starting, this is not the full release of Once Human and will instead be either the beta or the Steam Fest Demo—so you will only be wasting your time.

When the time to download does come around, close any applications that are not necessary and don’t play any other games, as this will affect your download speed. The install size is around 70GB, which equates to around one-and-a-half hours of download time on 100mpbs speed.
