How to get ‘Thunder Cage Mounting’ boost in The First Descendant

Make sure it's working.

There are plenty of weapons in The First Descendant, and one of the most powerful accessible early on is the Thunder Cage SMG—and certain Reactors give a boost through the Thunder Cage Mounting bonus.

The Thunder Cage SMG in The First Descendant is likely to be the first Ultimate Weapon you encounter in the game, as a subquest early on directs you to collect all of the required materials for crafting, and the weapon gets even better if you perfect your build.

Using a Reactor with a ‘Thunder Cage Mounting’ bonus is advisable if you use this weapon, but there has been some confusion around activating the boost—though we’re here to clear up any uncertainty.

To get the bonus from the Thunder Cage Mounting boost from a Reactor, equip the Thunder Cage SMG as your primary weapon—if you have the Thunder Cage in your second or third slot, you will not receive the boost.

But there’s a bug that doesn’t provide the Thunder Cage Mounting boost, even if you have equipped the weapon as your primary. If you encounter this issue, remove the Thunder Cage from your loadout and reequip the weapon.

You may need to unequip and reequip the Thunder Cage any time you change your Reactor or adjust your build, so be sure to check the bonus is applied whenever you make a change. Hopefully, this issue will be fixed in a future patch.
