Respawn may have just banned several Apex Legends hackers, players report

Hackers were spotted complaining in a forum about being banned.

Respawn Entertainment has apparently dished out tons of bans to cheaters and hackers in Apex Legends. A few screengrabs of what seems to be an internet forum for cheaters was shown on Reddit with a few complaints by players who apparently bought an Apex cheat there and ended up getting banned in the game today.

“Everyone got banned, mate,” a user wrote in the forums. “I can’t play with a new account. My new account got banned after created and played one game,” another one wrote. Other comments showed how impressed these cheaters were after being caught, with one saying that “however they handled this is beyond me,” and another confirming that standard procedures to bypass the ban, like changing their router’s IP, were failing.

Respawn hasn’t announced a recent banwave, but it seems like a few players who were using the same cheat got caught. This usually means they were using third-party software for something in the game that would otherwise be impossible, like getting perfect aim with an aimbot or moving at extremely high speeds with a speedhack.

Respawn confirmed on March 9 that over 355,000 cheaters had been banned from Apex since its release. Some of these bans happened directly through the game’s Easy-Anti Cheat system, which runs before the game starts on PC. Players can also report others who might be using any kind of cheat after they’re eliminated. They can even choose which category that player’s cheat my fall into, from fast movement speed to perfect aim.

It’s been almost a month since that last report, so it’s likely that this number has increased quite significantly and will continue to grow.
