The countdown to Hearthstone’s Rise of Shadows expansion continues—and that means there’s more card reveals to look forward to.
The latest is a Legendary minion called Archmage Vargoth.
This is a four-mana minion with two Attack and six Health. It also has a very interesting effect—at the end of your turn, Vargoth will cause you to cast a spell you’ve cast previously in the turn with targets chosen randomly.
This will create some interesting opportunities for spell-heavy decks like Big Spell Mage and Spell Hunter. Vargoth could also potentially find a home in more Tempo Style Mage decks like Aggro Mage.
IGN revealed the minion and noted that Blizzard said Archmage Vargoth will be given to players for free ahead of the Rise of Shadows release. This is similar to how Blizzard gave players Marin the Fox alongside the Kobolds and Catacombs expansion. Vargoth has an effect that seems like it could work in a number of different spell-based decks, but we’ll have to wait and see if he has any impact on the expansion’s opening meta.
Check out the rest of the cards from Rise of Shadows when the expansion goes live on April 9.
