Fnatic beat Schalke 04 behind Bwipo’s dominant performance

The perennial European champs are hunting for a playoff spot.

Many Fnatic fans are rejoicing after watching their team take down Schalke 04 in a dominant 30-minute match in week seven of the 2019 LEC Spring Split. It was a one-sided affair that saw Fnatic squeeze the life out of Schalke slowly and methodically.

The biggest impact player for Fnatic was top laner Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau, who dominated Schalke’s Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu very early in the match. Bwipo actually picked up a solo kill on his lane matchup only three minutes into the game.

This was only the beginning for Odoamne’s troubles, however, as he died to Bwipo again at the 10-minute mark. Meanwhile, the rest of Fnatic played things nice and slow across the map. With Fnatic securing every objective and allowing their fed top laner to pressure the side lanes, Schalke couldn’t find a single foothold in the entire match.

Schalke’s rookie mid laner, Felix “Abbedagge” Braun, has been having a tough time in the early game as of late. In the last three games, he’s last among all LEC mid laners in every death category pre-10 minutes.

It’s clear that as teams build more synergy together as the season rolls along, Schalke have relied on their individual play rather than their macro. Unfortunately, they’ve stagnated in the second half of the Spring Split and they’re now in danger of missing the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Fnatic have finally found a winning formula after a disappointing first half of the season. Along with their victory over Team Vitality last week, Fnatic now have a fighting chance to enter the playoff race. They’ve taken down multiple top five teams and look poised to reach Rotterdam. Fnatic will try to continue their win streak against Rogue tomorrow at 12pm CT.
