Splyce drop third-consecutive match with loss to eUnited at the CWL Pro League

After starting the 2019 CWL Pro League regular season with four-straight wins, Splyce have run into significant issues.

With their 3-1 loss to eUnited on Thursday, Splyce suffered their third-consecutive loss. The streak began on Tuesday with a loss to Team Heretics and shockingly continued with a loss to the previously-winless Denial Esports on Wednesday.

To kick off their series against eUnited, Splyce looked a step behind in Frequency Hardpoint, which they lost by more than 100 points. And while they looked more like a cohesive unit on Payload Search and Destroy, Splyce still allowed eUnited’s Preston “Prestinni” Sanderson to win a one-vs-three, as well as the final two rounds of the game to go down two games to none.

On Frequency Control, Splyce dropped the first two rounds of the game. They fought back, though, dominating through the third and fourth rounds to tie the map going into the final round. The teams traded lives back and forth, but Splyce were able to snap their five-map losing streak and push the series to a fourth game.

That’s where the winning ended for Splyce, though. Despite being just two points away from victory, Splyce couldn’t hold on to the Fountain hill on Seaside Hardpoint, allowing eUnited to overcome a 20-point deficit and win the series.

In the other matches on Thursday, Denial Esports picked up their second win of the season by defeating Excelerate Gaming. Team Envy also handed Heretics their second-straight loss with a 3-1 result. And 100 Thieves won yet again, pushing their win streak to four matches after sweeping Enigma6.

Here are the standings in Division B of the CWL Pro League (each team’s series record is followed by their map count in parentheses).

Teams will have nearly a month off from league matches now due to CWL Fort Worth, which begins on March 15. CWL Pro League play will resume with cross-division matches on March 28.
