PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds looks like it could be headed to the PlayStation 4 eventually, some time after it is released for the Xbox One, according to a report by Bloomberg.

In the interview with Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene, Bloomberg states that “Bluehole is in talks with Sony about introducing a version for the PlayStation” after PUBG launches on the Xbox One later this year.

When PUBG was announced to be console exclusive for the Xbox One back at E3 this past June, a statement from the developers at Bluehole (now PUBG Corp.) was very careful with its language.

“We’re excited to announce that PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS is coming to Xbox One,” Bluehole’s statement read. “We’re always looking at various platforms to potentially introduce our game, but have nothing further to announce at this time.”

This clearly seems to indicate that the door was being left open for an eventual release on the PS4, and that now seems more likely.

“I don’t think anyone in the industry was expecting [this level of success for PUBG],” said Piers Harding-Rolls, head of games research at IHS Markit, in Bloomberg’s piece. “PUBG has arguably risen to be Xbox’s most important exclusive for the end of 2017 and that is something that I doubt Microsoft expected.”

The popularity of PUBG on the PS4 would be magnified even further, as that console has strongly outsold the Xbox One on a worldwide level. There are just way more PS4 owners out there than Xbox One owners, to put it simply. Recently, it was even said that the PS4 was out-selling the Xbox One by a two-to-one margin, according to BusinessInsider.

If PUBG does come to PS4 eventually, it could become one of the most successful games of all time, as it will reach playability of nearly every gamer you could imagine.
