How to customize your character in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2

Mix it up.

Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 offers the feature to customize your character in specific game modes, but the option to do so is not immediately clear. We’re here to clear up any confusion.

Whether you want to flex on others in PvP or match your friends in cooperative modes, customization in Space Marine 2 allows you to add your own look to the armor—an important feature given how much freedom there is when painting Warhammer figures.

Though the process is easy to understand, it requires some exploration and isn’t available in all three modes in Space Marine 2. We’ve explained everything below.

Customization is unavailable in the campaign, so you need to switch to one of the two multiplayer modes to access the feature: Operations, the three-player co-op mode, or Eternal War, the PvP mode. Switch game modes on the Battle Barge by interacting with the terminal on the Thunderhawk Gunship launchpad.

The ability to switch modes unlocks after you complete the first mission of the campaign, the same time that multiplayer features become available.

Once your game mode is swapped, head to the Armoring Hall. The entrance is visible from the terminal you used to switch game mode; just follow the path and head left. Then, interact with the computer that drops down from the ceiling.

This menu offers an option to switch to any of the six Space Marine classes. On top of this, you can also customize your Armor style by selecting existing Armour Sets or create your own. You can unlock most Armor Sets by meeting certain criteria and objectives.

Some Armour Sets do not offer the option to customize colors, while others do. You unlock Colors via purchase in the Heraldry tab, found to the right of the Armour Sets when looking at the customization screen.

It’s worth remembering that the customization choices you make are for that game mode only. If you switch to the other multiplayer mode, like Eternal War, you need to customize your character from scratch—though you can just choose the same options so you match in both modes.
