Grand Theft Auto roleplay has been the latest fad in the world of streaming and video game content creation. Popular streamers like Chance “Sodapoppin” Morris, Jaryd “Summit1g” Lazar, and Saqib “Lirik” Zahid have tried their hand at RP streaming over the past few months.
But the RP scene might have hit a wall and could be falling back to reality soon as some of those big-name streamers have started to leave the game.
Sodapoppin, for example, explained his thought process on his departure from the RP scene, saying that he “hit a wall with GTA RP” after streaming so much of it all at once. Even Summit seemed to be burnt out from roleplaying when he explained why he hadn’t played GTA in several days.
GTA roleplaying is a tough scene to join for a streamer since they can’t simply play the game for content like other titles. Streamers need to constantly entertain their viewers by creating or planning situations when they go live, which can be exhausting for people who are new to the scene. As a result, people can run out of ideas to act out for their fans, which causes burnout.
The other question is whether the lasting popularity of GTA roleplaying is in jeopardy. The answer? Not exactly.
Even though huge channels aren’t streaming it, GTA V is still one of the highest-viewed games on Twitch at the time of writing. Additionally, multiple smaller streams have picked up in viewership as well, like MiltonTPike or Kiwo. These small, dedicated communities could keep GTA from burning out completely in the future.
