YouTuber and Twitch streamer Vincent Cyr played a hilarious car commercial parody on stream Thursday to ask his viewers to use their Twitch Prime subscriptions on him.
Cyr was doing a roleplaying stream on Grand Theft Auto V when he played the commercial for his viewers.
“So check this out,” Cyr said before counting down from five and ending by yelling, “sellout!” The stream transitioned from GTA gameplay to a scenic shot of nature with majestic music.
Viewers sat and watched what very clearly seemed to be a Twitch ad. In the top left, there was text reading, “This Ad Supports Cyr.”
The professionally-shot footage of rugged shorelines and beautiful architecture set an inspirational tone. An enthralling narrator began talking about achieving strength, love, and plenty of other platitudes.
“But with achievement comes the need for speed,” the narrator said. “Introducing the all new 2019 BMW M Series, something that not many of us can afford.”
Suddenly, the chat became very suspicious that they had been duped. “But what you can afford is Twitch Prime,” the narrator said with passion in his voice. “Why? Because it’s free.”
The chat exploded with emotes and “LULW” once it was clear that the narrator was Cyr himself and the whole commercial was nothing more than a ploy.
Using Cyr’s antics as a proof of concept, it appears viewers are perfectly fine with streamers asking for new subscriptions, so long as it’s done in a creative and entertaining way.
