Galar Pokémon are finally on their way to Pokémon Go, with Niantic dropping a new teaser for upcoming Pocket Monster releases.

In the trailer, which first aired at the 2024 Pokémon World Championship in Honolulu, Morpeko was briefly shown in its two forms. There was also a small teaser for Eternatus and Gigantamax Pokémon. Sadly, no info such as a date was mentioned, and right now it’s unclear if more Galar Pokémon outside these two are coming anytime soon.

The news still represents a seismic shift for the handheld title, considering it has been years since any new Galar Pokémon have been added to Go. The last time any Galar Pokémon got added to the game was in 2021 with the Ultra Unlock event, and while there have been small sprinkling of regional forms, this marks the first time in nearly three years we’ve had any confirmation that Galar is coming back in some form.

Again, we have no idea when both will be released outside of the glimpses we saw and that Morpeko will have some way to change between its forms in Pokémon Go. If we had to guess, though, the current season of Go is set to end on Sept. 3, so a brand new season could release Galar and the new raid features in just under a month.

For now, we can only wait for official news from Niantic regarding its new season plans to see if everything aligns. The game already has Dynamax and Gigantamax symbols, so it would be weird if the feature weren’t coming anytime soon.
