Nate Nanzer, the head of esports for Overwatch, disclosed some important details regarding the start date for the highly-anticipated Overwatch League. Nanzer sat down for a press conference earlier today to discuss all of this information with members of the Korean media at Parnas Hotel in Seoul Samsung Station.
In a translation of the original question and answer section of the press conference, Nanzer stated that the Overwatch League will begin sometime in the third quarter of 2017.
At the start of the season, players will reportedly be chosen based on talent through other competitions, with the plan to have a league with teams based around the world, like some traditional sports.
Nanzer is expecting the start of the league to be a learning experience, but promises to have a consistent schedule for regular season play in 2018, citing infrastructure and build-up as the main reasons.
