An unannounced Overwatch project is reportedly in the works at Blizzard.
The developer posted an internship opening on the Blizzard Careers site searching for a “Generalist Artist” to help “an unannounced project” with its “wide range of assets.” Knowledge of Overwatch’s lore is listed in the recommended talents portion of the listing.
It’s a position for students, and it’s said to last just a few months in Blizzard’s office in Irvine, California in 2018.
“You will work closely with our concept, environment and character teams to create hard surface and organic props, weapons and possibly characters that are both detail-oriented and consistent with the art style we’ve defined,” the listing reads.
A posting like this is hardly a confirmation of a new Overwatch game or an expansion to the title. In June, Blizzard posted other job openings for those experienced in first-person shooter games, which prompted speculation of an Overwatch expansion—like a campaign mode. Of course, there’s also the possibility that these are entirely unrelated.
Blizzard has not confirmed any new games, so we’re likely in for a long wait before we find out about this new project.
