Overwatch is now free to play on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox until Sept. 25.
Blizzard opened the game up to all potential players on Sept. 22, giving access to all heroes and maps. And it’s good timing, too: A new Escort map, Junkertown, just went live on Sept. 19. Quick Play, Custom Games, and the Overwatch Arcade are all accessible during the free weekend. Competitive Play is reserved for paid players, however.

“Players will also have the ability to level up, earn loot boxes, and unlock a variety of different customization options,” Blizzard said in a blog post detailing the free weekend.
If you decide to buy Overwatch during the free weekend, you can keep all progress made as long as you purchase Overwatch using the same Blizzard, Sony, or Xbox Live account.
The free weekend began at 11am PT today and will run through 11:59pm PT on Sept. 25. Detailed timing information for all other time zones is available on the Overwatch website. Once you have Overwatch installed on your chosen platform, just sign up and you’re ready to play.
The world needs more heroes, and making the game free is a good way to amass ’em.
