Mei freeze bug breaks the chilly Overwatch character

It really breaks Mei, making her almost unplayable.

Anyone who’s played against Mei in Overwatch is likely overjoyed: A bug introduced with the Overwatch Uprising patch broke her frost gun and it no longer slows enemies.

Those being targeted by Mei’s primary fire are still getting frozen—eventually—but it appears to take a bit longer since enemies are no longer being slowed. Similarly, Mei’s Blizzard ultimate is no longer slowing enemies. Heroes like Soldier: 76 and Lúcio can simply run through the Blizzard and make it through unharmed.

Basically, this really breaks Mei, making her almost unplayable. Luckily, Blizzard is already on the case. Overwatch principal designer Geoff Goodman posted to the Overwatch forum to let players know the developer has identified and fixed the bug internally. “We’ll get it out to you guys as soon as we can,” Goodman said. “Sorry about that.”

Goodman did not specify a time, but it’ll likely be out on PC, at least, very soon, given how serious the bug is. Because the patching process is a bit different on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, console players could see it a bit later.

In testing this morning, Dot Esports verified the bug is still active.

Poor Mei has been through a lot with Overwatch bugs. A bug with the Year of the Rooster event shaved inches off the hero’s waist—painful—while her Ice Wall has caused tons of problems with pushing players outside of map boundaries.
