Overwatch tank hero D.Va has received a major adjustment on the Overwatch live server. Players on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC are now able to try out D.Va’s new ability, Micro Missiles, and her nerfed Defensive Matrix.

The adjustments have been in testing on the Overwatch PTR since Aug. 24, with tweaks being made to D.Va’s kit since then. Blizzard added Micro Missiles as a way to adjust D.Va without nerfing her—her Defense Matrix was too strong, but just nerfing that would make D.Va too weak.

Micro Missiles give D.Va a bit more leverage in play style, allowing her to do more damage overall. The new ability allows D.Va to fire a barrage of miniature rockets that detonate on impact. Damage is dealt within a small radius. Plus, she can fire these missiles while using other weapons.

Here are Blizzard’s patch notes.

  • Micro Missiles (New Ability)
  • D.Va fires a barrage of small rockets that detonate on impact, dealing damage in a limited radius around each explosion. These can be fired while D.Va is using any other ability or firing her Fusion Cannons
  • Defense Matrix
  • Defense Matrix’s resource meter will now deplete quicker
  • Boosters
  • Fusion Cannons can now be fired while flying

As with all Overwatch heroes, nothing is forever. Blizzard is expecting to tweak its heroes as much as needed to create balance in the game. We’ll know more about D.Va’s future in the Overwatch meta as players get to try her new kit out.
