Riot Games has announced the Valorant Ignition Series. The Valorant Ignition Series is the launch of the competitive scene of Riot Games’ latest title, Valorant. Throughout the year, the Valorant team is partnering up with more than 20 esports organizations to host events all around the world. What is the Valorant Ignition Series?

The Valorant Ignition Series encompasses all partnered events taking place this year. The series is the first step towards building a competitive ecosystem for Valorant. The event partners come from regions all around the world, including North America, Brazil / Latin America, Korea, Japan, South East Asia, Oceania, Europe, Russia, Turkey, and the Middle East. Notably, this list does not include China, which is expected to receive Valorant later this year.

The initial two official Valorant events

Valorant G2 Rage The first two Valorant Ignition Series events take place during the weekend of June 19 – 21. The first event is organized by G2 Esports in partnership with Red Bull, occurring June 19 at 3 p.m. CEST / 9 a.m. EST / 6 a.m. PST. The G2 Esports Valorant Invitational features eight team captains. However, the captains won’t know until 24 hours before the start of the event which other invited players they are grouping up with. Secondly, Rage, “Japan’s biggest esport event,” is hosting the first officially licensed Valorant Ignition Series tournament for Japan. It will occur June 20-21, beginning at 3:00 p.m. JST. The “Rage x Ignition” event features a Â¥500,000 ( about $4,600 USD) winner-takes-all prize pool. This event features 16 of the most notable Japanese esports teams, including brands such as DetonatioN Gaming and Jupiter. DetonatioN Gaming also fields a team in the LJL, Japan’s League of Legends circuit, under the name Detonation FocusMe. Riot Games plans to reveal additional details of this event on June 18.
