UGC St. Louis has shown that Halo 5 still brings out the best of this community a year after it was introduced.

Thirty-three teams came out to Collinsville, Illinois to compete in the open bracket, which started on the first day of the three day event weekend. Most Wanted, Solstice and PNDA were the favorites to win out of the bracket, although there were a fair amount of local teams who performed well. For this event, the first, second, and third place teams will receive a share of a prize pool, totaled at $5,000.

Also, I have to give credit to two of the best day one commentators out there: Legion and Joe Fries. Not every game has to be taken seriously in a tournament, especially in the first round, where teams were most likely 3-0’d in dominating fashion. They kept me tuned in while I was getting dressed up as the “Brawny Man” for a Halloween party. Although their commentary did raise some eyebrows the wrong way, I enjoyed it.
