“We’re excited to continue to break new ground with Masters Reykjavik,” Whalen Rozelle, Senior Director of Esports at Riot Games, said. “In the run-up to the tournament, more than 2,000 teams from around the world participated in qualifying events; the most of any VALORANT event to date.” Thousands of competitors will compete in regional Challengers events starting in June of 2021. Ultimately, this number will narrow down to 16 teams that advance to Masters Berlin, an increase from the 10 slots currently available at Reykjavik. The event will take place at Verti Music Hall; home to the 2019 League of Legends World Championship Group Stage. Similar to Masters Reykjavik, the tournament will see teams compete on offline game servers to ensure competitive integrity in a lag-free environment. The event will also see the return of coaching slots that debuted at Reykjavik; allowing team coaches to view their player’s perspectives during official matches. “While coaches will only be able to communicate with players at designated times, we’re excited to take this step to introduce new tools that will improve player performance and increase the level of competition,” Rozelle said.

Teams like Sentinels, Version1, Team Liquid and Fnatic have already qualified for Masters Reykjavik through the North American and EMEA Challenger Finals. The upcoming Valorant Masters event will showcase 10 teams competing for the trophy between May 24 and 30. It will be hosted alongside the League of Legends 2021 Mid-Season Invitational. All matches from Masters Berlin will be broadcast live on the Twitch and YouTube platforms.
