The Nintendo Switch turn-based strategy game Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp has been delayed until further notice by Nintendo in light of recent events between Russia and Ukraine. Originally set to release on April 8, Advance Wars 1+2 was developed for the GameBoy Advance by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. The remaster of the GameBoy Advance title was teased during E3, which took place on June 11 of 2021. However, there was radio silence about the game until the first Nintendo Direct of 2022, which gave Advance Wars 1+2 an official release date for early April. The release date for the title is currently unknown. Since Nintendo Direct launched in February, Russia has invaded Ukraine, driving millions from their homes. While Advance Wars 1+2 is not a realistic war video game, it still depicts a cartoon scenario of what is currently happening in Ukraine.

Advance Wars’ untimely releases
Advance Wars 1+2 was originally released in the United States and Australia on September 10, 2001, which was one day before the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the U.S.. These attacks delayed the release of Advance Wars for Europe until 2002 and Japan until 2004. It has been 21 years since Advance Wars was first released. Nintendo did not share when Advance Wars 1+2 would be officially released following the delay. Despite the delays, Nintendo fans supported the organization’s decision to delay the reboot of Advance Wars due to conflicts across the globe. “Understandable,” said Twitter user CobraTheOne. “I want this game to succeed so it can have more games in the future!”
