Is Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora an open world game?

The final month of 2023 doesn’t have a ton of planned game releases, but Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora could make up for that. The new title from Ubisoft is the first video game adaptation of the famed movie franchise. While fans of the franchise are excited, some are curious whether or not Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is an open world or not.

Given how large the world of Pandora is in the Avatar films, it’s natural to wonder how much of that world fans will get to explore in Frontiers of Pandora. You might also be wondering if you get to explore the world in its entirety from the get-go or if you travel around to new locations in stages.

You can find all of the details on Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s world in the guide below.

Fortunately for fans of exploration and classic Ubisoft titles, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a full open world game that is pretty much fully explorable from the start. While you do have to go through a few tutorials and beginning missions, the world of Pandora is completely open to you within a couple of hours of starting a new save file.

More specifically, it’s the Western Frontier region of Pandora that’s explorable in Frontiers of Pandora. It’s unclear exactly how large the overall map of the Pandora region is in the new game, but you can expect it to be on par with other open world Ubisoft titles, such as those in the Far Cry series. You can also expect the game to take roughly 15 hours to complete if you mainly focus on the story and not any of the side content.

The open world will contain a plethora of side quests and other content to complete. You will also be able to explore other locations and potentially find some easter eggs from either one of the Avatar films. I will update this guide with more information once we have an official look at the map in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and see exactly how large its open world really is.
