The groups have been drawn for the invited teams that will compete at the Oracle Arena on Nov. 19-20 for a share of the $300,000 prize pool. Intel Extreme Masters Oakland will consist of 12 teams, eight of which spots have been filled by invitation, while the rest will be determined by the results of a qualifier.
iBUYPOWER Masters, in addition to boasting a $100,000 prize pool on its own, will also be the qualifying tournament for the last four spots in the IEM event.

IEM Oakland will begin with two groups of six that will face off in a round-robin format. Winners of each group will advance directly to the semifinals, whereas the second and third place will advance to the quarterfinals. The initial first two rounds in playoffs will be best-of-three series, with the final being a best-of-five.
