FFXIV new expansion coming this summer: What to expect and more

As Final Fantasy 14 (FFXIV) hits its ten year anniversary, a new expansion is set to launch next summer. The expansion was first announced during the keynote address as part of the FFXIV Fan Festival. The festival took place in Las Vegas and the keynote was given by Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida. With over 27 million players, fans around the world are excited for this new stage of FFXIV. Here’s everything we know so far about the new expansion Dawntrail.

Dawntrail FFXIV expansion

The expansion will live in summer 2024. For those around the world that will be roughly June 2024. This new expansion brings lots of fresh new content. Fans are pleased to hear about the new level cap increase and availability of new jobs. There are lots of new areas to explore, new dungeons, and new battle content. Here’s a quick overview:

  • Level cap increases from 90 to 100
  • New Allied Tribes
  • More jobs
  • New FATEs, Hunts, Treasure Hunts, and sidequests
  • Dungeons
  • Duty Support update
  • New gear and recipes
  • More Variant Dungeons, Alliance raids, 8-Player raids, and Ultimate raids
  • PvP update

There is also the game’s first graphical update launching with Dawntrail. This will apply to both characters and world visuals. Players will experience improved screen aesthetics, especially for those playing in wide-screen modes. Gameplay will feature higher resolution textures and shadows, and each material will have improved qualities. Overall, the gameplay is set to look visually more stunning.

FFXIV comes to Xbox Series X|S

During the FFXIV Fan Festival, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer joined Yoshida on stage. Spencer announced FFXIV Xbox will be arriving on Xbox Series X|S around March 2024. This digital only release will feature 4K support for Xbox Series X. This will allow players to experience the full high definition visuals FFXIV has to offer. If you’re keen to play, there will be be an open beta available soon, so keep and eye out. If you’re new to the game and want to try, you can play the free trial. Dawntrail will also bring a surprising new update for newbies. Those trailing the game will be able to play all the way to level 70.
