Each year Bethesda releases a fun new update or expansion to their popular MMO Elder Scrolls Online. This year, Bethesda has already started dropping hints about what’s in store for 2024. Let’s have a look at everything we know about the new chapter ahead of the Elder Scrolls Online Global Reveal.
Where is it located?
Bethesda has started dropping clues about the new Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) story all over the internet. Tweets are popping up with various letters received by adventures around the globe.
This letter speaks of a potential starting point for the new storyline. It mentions meeting Beragon—the author of the letter—in Grahtwood. This place is a rather green location, with plenty of trees and flowers. The autumn leaves included in the letter might be a hint about the changing season between Grahtwood and the new location for the 2024 chapter.
New story
Each new ESO chapter usually comes with a story. The last story was a political battle titled “Shadow over Morrowind“. This chapter introduced a new class and spoke of the forbidden secrets of Apocrypha. The new storyline appears to be a little more light-hearted. The letter sent to adventurers points to a search for “something of great importance”, probably referring to the fragment enclosed with the letter. It appears to be a section of a circle, showing fall leaves, and various symbols. Bethesda has given us a clue to this fragment in one of their social media posts:
Could this be a special piece of stained glass that holds secrets about Tamriel? Is that why some people have abandoned their clans? We will find out soon enough. Bethesda will reveal more about the story during their Elder Scrolls Online Global reveal. The live stream takes place on Thursday, January 18th, at 4 pm EST. Tune in via Twitch to earn a free emote.
New morphing pet
Bethesda might be a little bit cryptic about the new storyline but we have already seen this year’s new morphing pet. For the past few years, Bethesda has given Elder Scrolls Online players the ability to earn tickets through events and purchase fragments to make special items. Last year it was the Passion flower morphing pet, and this year it looks like we have yet another flying pet.
The tweet from The Elder Scrolls Online shows a winged, demon-like bat creature. In the past, players have been required to collect three fragments to morph into the pet. From there, players can purchase additional fragments to morph the pet into something else; usually a mount, personality, or costume.
Well, that’s about all we know so far about the new ESO chapter. Tune into the Elder Scrolls Online global reveal next week to find out more.
