At the 2016 DreamHack Zowie Open, eight teams entered for a share of the $100,000 prize pool, and it was Gambit who bested the Renegades two matches to none to take home a cool $50,000 payday.
This came as a small shock, as several well known teams were eliminated from the tournament early. Because of that, it left a closed qualifier team and a team that barely missed the IEM Oakland cutoff at the iBUYPOWER Masters fighting in the Grand Final.
The final standings were as follows:
1st Place ($50,000)
- Gambit
2nd Place ($25,000)
- Renegades
3rd/4th Place ($10,000)
- Kinguin
- GODSENT
5th/6th Place ($3,000)
- Cloud9
- FlipSid3
7th/8th Place ($2,000)
- OpTic Gaming
- Team Dignitas
