There is a wide-ranging number of consumsables you can find and craft in Dragon’s Dogma 2. From basic recipes like Salubrious Draught to more advanced concoctions that cure debilitations, you’ll need a large array of items to keep your character healthy. However, before you can think about making any recipes in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you need to learn how to combine inventory items.
By combining items in your inventory, you’re able to make existing recipes or discover new ones. You can combine two items together and make a potion, roborant, or something else. The combining process can be a little tricky to figure out, though, so allow me to explain how to use it in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Combine inventory items in DD2
You are able to start combining inventory items from the very start in DD2. One of the earliest side quests in the game requires you to make Salubrious Draught for a vendor at the Borderwatch Outpost, and that’s only done by combining two specific items together. In the case of that side quest, you need to combine Harspuds and Apples to make the draught.
To do that or combine any other items from your inventory in DD2, follow the steps below:
- Open your inventory and look for the “Combine” option in the left corner of the inventory box
- Press whatever button is next to the “Combine” option
- You’ll see a new menu where you have “Experiment” and “Use Recipe” tabs
- To discover a new recipe, stay in the Experiment tab and click on a resource in your inventory. Then, select a new item to combine it with and see what you make.
- Once you progress in Dragon’s Dogma 2, simply use the “Use Recipe” tab, as it contains most of the pertinent crafting recipes you’ll need
- You can also combine items at an inn or when visiting a storage chest in your house
I recommend combining different resources together in the Experiment tab early on in DD2, then you can transition to the Recipe tab. Keep in mind, though, that items you’re using need to be in your personal inventory; any items in a Pawn’s inventory cannot be used by your character until you transfer it. To transfer an item between inventories, simply click on it and press “Give.” Then, select what character you want to transfer the item to.
As you progress in DD2, you’ll unlock more and more recipes for potions that heal you, roborants that fulfill health and stamina, and potions that get rid of debilitations, among others. However, you need to make sure you’re picking up as many new resources as possible to unlock those recipes. Picking up a new fruit, ore, or random resource can be the key to unlocking a strong crafting recipe.
