The image names several biomes not currently in the game, most notably a volcano, leaving fans speculating about whether a long-waited update may finally be here.

The map features several other biomes like waterfalls, icebergs, tundras, marshes, and prairies, most of which are already in the game. Others could hit at future additions; while the image may simply be a playful nod to the game’s educational side—the post is captioned, “Geography class is in session!” and closely resembles the Geography Terms poster—many players are hoping it’s more than just a fun social media post.

There’s a chance Mojang could be using this as a subtle tease for a future update that introduces new biomes, including the long-requested volcanoes. The possibility of volcanoes being added has excited many, as this has been a long-requested feature. One Reddit user captured the sentiment perfectly: “A teaser for a full biome overhaul and a volcano biome addition would be the best outcome for 1.22, but I highly doubt it.”
