The European League of Legends playoffs are upon us, and the first match promises to be a tense brawl between two teams who are both relatively new to the region. ROCCAT, who dominated earlier this year, fell off the wagon heading into the summer and just barely scraped by into playoffs. The Supa Hot Crew, on the other hand, had a weak spring but posted some solid games in the Summer Split and finished in third place. Both teams joined the LCS in January, but their stories are very different.

On the surface, the Supa Hot Crew have an obvious lead going in. They have a higher Team KDA and gold rate, along with earning 4 more wins over the course of the season. However, Roccat have one thing that might upset all that—momentum. Roccat’s final week was a mess, but their win against the Supa Hot Crew was about as one-sided as it gets. The Crew only managed a single kill, and flopped over just after the 30 minute mark. They’re going to have to find a way to come back from that embarassing loss.

The individual matchups show exactly how they can do that. The key will be in the jungle, where ROCCAT’s Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski has been keeping his team afloat. Compared to other junglers in the European region, he’s one of the best, and he consistently stays ahead of opposing junglers. Other than Jankowski, however, ROCCAT have fallen behind the rest of the pack.

The Crew should have no problem getting ahead if they can contain Jankowski. Unless something changes, the Supa Hot Crew look like they’re going to continue their hot streak into the next stage of the playoffs.
