His announcement comes after two back-to-back League Championship Series seventh place finishes for Evil Geniuses, forcing the team in turn to qualify twice. Voorspoels detailed his troubles with the team in a 1,600 word long Facebook post earlier today.

Originally a European star on Counter Logic Gaming Europe, the Belgian native migrated to North America with two teammates in December 2013. Since then, Voorspoels’ European teammates have left the team, replaced by a Korean import and a North American native.

Roster changes weren’t enough to pull the team out of their slump, leaving Evil Geniuses at the bottom of the standings throughout the most recent Summer split.

The problems within the team stem from a lack of maturity on the roster and a lack of intervention from team owner Brain Cordry, Voorspoels says in the Facebook post. This led to a “incredibly unhealthy and at times depressing in-house environment.”

Voorspoels says  he “never had the full respect from the team.”

It’s not clear where he’ll go next. “All I know is going into next year it’ll be 100% to win, or not at all,” he says. An offer to join the LCS broadcast crew may be on the table, as Voorspoels just finished his second year on the world championship analyst desk.
