Europe’s only chance: Group C Results and Predictions

A look at the recent results from Group C and what week two may hold going forward.

Going into week two of Worlds, there have been a multitude of unexpected storylines in each group. For Group C, EDward Gaming being dismantled by INTZ e-Sports takes the cake.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 30

SUNDAY, OCT. 2

  • AHQ vs. ITZ –  4:00 p.m. PDT AHQ WIN
  • EDG vs. H2K –  5:00 p.m. PDT EDG WIN

After the initial upset by ITZ over EDG in the first week, this group seemed to of returned to normality in the standings with the only group to register an EU win in Worlds 2016 as a whole. The future looks grim for H2K barring an upset favoring them to be the only EU team with a tangible chance of getting into the last eight.

Even with ahq looking strong, I feel H2k has learned from their game with them on the opening day of the competition. H2K can beat the odds and go though, but I don’t imagine ahq sitting down without a fight, creating the possibility of a tiebreaker game.

When it comes to ITZ, I feel they are falling into too many traps. While I would like to see both them and Albus Nox Luna from Group A both go through, I feel unless there is an upset this week, they will be doomed to finish last.

Regardless of what happens, the group will be tightly contested with all teams able to take those last two spots. Anything can happen, but I stand by my European comrades and say they will go for the the goal to do their region proud.

Here are the upcoming matches in week two. Furthermore, here are my predictions for the matches:

GROUP STAGE – WEEK TWO PREDICTIONS

  • AHQ vs. H2K –  H2K
  • H2K vs. EDG  –  EDG
  • ITZ vs. AHQ  –  AHQ
  • ITZ vs. H2K –  H2K
  • AHQ vs. EDG –  EDG
