100 Thieves are scrambling to find answers after a tough start to the 2019 LCS Summer Split. And now, the team will start Academy top laner Aaron “FakeGod” Lee over star Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho in their match against Golden Guardians on Saturday.

Max “Soligo” Soong has also been replaced by veteran Academy mid laner Ryu Sang-wook. 100 Thieves has been moving multiple pieces around after going 0-4 to start the season, with losses to CLG, Clutch Gaming, and OpTic Gaming.

100 Thieves has tried different lineups during its Academy games by moving Ssumday, Soligo, and Zaqueri “aphromoo” Black to its lineup. The organization even had perennial world champion Bae “Bang” Jun-sik play in the NA Academy as well, which showed how desperate the team is to make a roster work.

Last split, 100 Thieves struggled to find synergy with its star-studded roster—a lack of focus and coordination caused the team to drop hopelessly in the regular season. With only four wins to show for their abysmal 2019 Spring Split, it was clear that changes needed to be made if this roster wanted to turn around its year. Jungler Maurice “Amazing” Stückenschneider was added to the lineup in the following offseason, but his presence hasn’t done much for a floundering team.

This week, 100 Thieves will face off against a Golden Guardians squad that’s managed to start off the summer with a 3-1 record. If this new-look roster isn’t able to find success against both Golden Guardians and Echo Fox this week, 100 Thieves might be in trouble for the second split in a row.
