The Quaffle is in your hands now!

Harry Potter Quidditch Champions features many roles, and one of the primary positions is Chaser. You have to carry the Quaffle and put in any of the three enemy hoops to score points to ultimately win matches. However, the role becomes trickier when you have three of them together in your squad, and you need to focus on your chemistry to outmatch enemy chasers and frequently score goals to keep your team in the lead.

Here’s everything you need to know about Chasers in Harry Potter Quidditch Champions.

To understand Chasers in Harry Potter Quidditch Champions, we’ll break the role into three parts so you can understand how to play the role at various phases of the match.

Offense

Chasers are your only way of scoring in matches if your Seeker is having a bad day at the pitch, so you’ll need to be at the top of your game to get momentum in your favor. If you’re playing alone, then you’ll be controlling all three Chasers in the match and you can switch between them by locking onto them and pressing Q on the keyboard, or the up on the D-pad if you’re on controller. Switching between different Chasers allows you to reach different places quickly and find your teammates to pass them the Quaffle.

Opposing Chasers can try to snatch the Quaffle off you, but you can avoid that by keeping a close eye on the HUD icons, where blue spots indicate your team and red ones show the enemy. If the icons get bright, that indicates they’re coming very close to you. You might not always control the Chaser with the Quaffle, so make sure to ask for passes and take the lead to score the goals.

BE UNPREDICTABLE

While AI bot keepers are easy to juke and score goals, you’ll need to be tactful with your approach while playing against real players. Always make sure to diversify your shots by using charged shots or slow lofted throws to score, and make the keeper guess your approach to goalscoring. Oftentimes, it’s easier to pass to a fellow Chaser at the last moment if you notice a Bludger coming straight at you, going for an assist rather than trying for a risky goal by yourself.

Defense

If you’re like me and you love having possession, you can always try tackling enemy Chasers with the Quaffle, coming close to them by boosting and using left-click/RT/R2 to snatch it. The more your Chasers have the Quaffle, the better you typically do, so try to choose spots where you can be proactive on defense.

While boosting and scoring might seem fun, you need to avoid falling into the trap of always going for goals, as sometimes the best strategy is to pass to your teammate and get into a better space to either defend your half or tackle your opponents to get the Quaffle down. You may also need to play defensive and waste some time by passing the Quaffle without trying to advance or score in some situations, like if the enemy team gets the Snitch and makes the game close.

Sometimes, the enemy Beater might also try to knock you down with Bludgers, so make sure to dodge them and keep changing your flying pattern to keep them guessing. Using your drift is also a great option here to slow down the match and change directions to find your teammates and pass them the Quaffle if they’re in a better spot.

Tempo Management

Just like any sport, Quidditch doesn’t last forever, and matches only last seven minutes. You need to switch your playstyle according to the match’s tempo and understand your opponent’s patterns. Are they playing too aggressively? Bring your Chasers back, tackle, and counter them with a push. Are they playing defensively? Time to push your Chasers into their half and pass around to make space and score goals.

You also need to constantly communicate with your Beaters, Keeper, and Seeker so you can set up plays together.

As you upgrade the Chaser skill tree, you can make them better and even unlock unique abilities to help your team score. Until 6v6 becomes a reality in the game (which the developer has mentioned in their roadmap), everyone needs to play 3v3 in PvP and keep Chaser as a non-negotiable option for your primary role, so it’s worth investing time to learn the position’s skills.
