With the Starladder HS Season 3 having recently concluded we got to see what the pros are brewing for competitive play to beat meta decks. We’ve put together three highlight decks that caught out attention and I personally had a blast giving them a go on ladder.
Zalae’s Mid Range Murloc Paladin
Murlocs broke into the meta with some great additions from Journey to Un’goro and Murloc Paladin is the strongest Murloc deck you can play right now thanks to plenty of class specific Murlocs and buff cards to make the deck work. Onyxia, Harrison Jones and Black Knight have been interesting inclusions in the deck and do note that this is a tournament decklist that targets popular decks that were brought to the tournament like Taunt Warrior and Miracle Rogue. You can swap out the tech cards if you do not find any use for them in the ladder meta.
Overall, you get the standard fare when it comes to the murlocs and Sunkeeper Tarim has been the superstar for Paladin when it comes to making huge plays on board. This particular decklist is quite slower than what most people run on ladder mostly because the Starladder meta did not have too many aggro decks and it allowed people to be greedier with their decklists.
RDU’s Burn Mage
With Freeze Mage out of the picture after the Standard rotation took out Ice Lances and Emperor Thaurissan, Mages are still alive and kicking with Burn Mage in the current meta being extremely viable. The deck is much more proactive compared to standard Freeze Mage decklists and has more board oriented plays with cards like medivh-the-guardian and early game board presence.
Harrison Jones also comes into the picture in the decklist as a solid tech card to counter weapon based classes and decks. With enough card generation and high power plays like Firelands Portal and Pyroblast, the deck is quite a solid performer and it has been a contender in the ladder meta as well over the past few weeks.
Stancifka Fast Miracle Rogue
Miracle Rogue has always been meta when it comes to tournament action and the class is just rock solid in the right hands over the years of competitive Hearthstone play. This variant of Miracle Rogue is slightly different from what you might be used to seeing as it makes room for cards like Shaku, The Collector and Southsea Squiface taking the slots of 2X Arcane Giant to pace things up in the early game.
Vilespine Slayer has been phenomenal for Rogue as it takes out big threats quite efficiently. With Taunt Warrior being so popular in the tournament meta, it is a very handy removal. We also see Sap being taken out of the deck to accommodate a faster and more proactive playstyle.
We hope you enjoy the decks and do give them a spin on ladder or your local tavern brawl. Like we mentioned before, these decklists are fine tuned for tournament play with tech cards thrown in based on meta calls by professional players and you can feel free to make changes to suit what you are facing on ladder. Be sure to leave a comment below if you have any queries; until next time!
