PC Gamer received a cryptic scroll in the mail from Blizzard yesterday that suggested more new content was going tto be announced on July 22—a year to the day since the release of Hearthstone‘s first expansion, Curse of Naxxramas.
“Champions are gathering from around the world to witness the next exciting thing Hearthstone has in store,” the scroll reads. “News travels far and wide in search of brave new faces ready to answer the call to arms — Are you one of them? Muster for battle and mark July 22 on your calendar. The next bit of news won’t come by carrier pigeon — thankfully, we have much better ways of communication now. Victory awaits.”
The format and tone of the message has led to some to speculate about another new expansion, possibly based around the Argent Tournament, a world event from World of Warcraft added in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Though Blizzard has alternated between full card set expansions and adventure modes, the form of the Argent Tournament in World of Warcraft might lend itself to a the latter.
Blizzard certainly wouldn’t be hard pressed to find inspiration for an Argent-themed expansion. Multiple card sets on that theme were part of its World of Warcraft trading card game.
Of course, this could all just be the new Paladin hero skin for you to drop $10 on.
