MVP Phoenix are the first Korean side to win a major international title after bursting onto the scene during last year’s The International.

The Korean side defeated The International 5 winners Evil Geniuses 3-0 in a one-sided final. They also bested Frankfurt Major champions OG in the first round, en route to the $97,407 first prize.

Team Secret, winners of the most recent major in Shanghai, also struggled in the tournament. They lost to the first International champions Natus Vincere, who were making their first appearance at a top tier event since last year’s International. Any hopes of a Na`Vi comeback however were dashed by Evil Geniuses in the semifinal.

Evil Geniuses, OG, Secret and Virtus Pro received the four direct invites to the eight team competition, but only EG managed to advance beyond the first round.

Attention will now turn to the Dota roster shuffle. All teams, including those who took part in the Dota Pit finals, looking to compete in the upcoming Manila Major and The International 2016 have to confirm their personnel by Sunday.
