The Daily Dot first reported on the league’s formation on May 4, and it was officially announced yesterday as the Archon Team League Championships.

The league will feature eight teams, with a full list of participants announced on Thursday.

Cloud9, Tempo Storm, Team Liquid, Nihilum, Team Celestial and Archon itself will send players, with the final two team spots taken by a team led by Sebastian “Forsen” Fors and an as-yet undisclosed eighth team. Sources suggest each team will have three players, potentially in two divisions of 12.

The teaser video released suggests that James “Firebat” Kostesich, Dima “Rdu” Radu, Janne “Savjz” Mikkonen, Peter “Gaara” Stevanovic and Aleksandr “Kolento” Malsh will be joining Fors in the league. Sources close to the organization suggest that Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy, Cong “StrifeCro” Shu, Jeffrey “Sjow” Brusi and Yevhenii “Neirea” Sumilin will also represent their teams.

One team which had been expected to be involved was Team CompLexity, but they were conspicuously absent from the trailer. A CompLexity representative confirmed the team had been in discussions with Archon at some point but declined to comment further. It is possible however that CompLexity players may be involved in either Forsen’s team or the unnamed one.
